CBD Laboratory Analysis
COA Certificates & Quality Control
At Herbeevor, quality is not based on marketing claims. Each batch of CBD that we sell in France is subjected to an independent analysis in an accredited laboratory. Certificates of Analysis (COA) are available on each product page, by batch number. This is the only transparency that matters.
Why lab analyses are essential
Total transparencyIn France, CBD regulations do not require sellers to publish their analyses. This lack of obligation creates a two-speed market: on one side, serious players who test every batch, on the other, resellers who rely solely on their suppliers' declarations. At Herbeevor, we have chosen the first path — without exception.
Independent third-party laboratory
Our analyses are carried out by entities outside Herbeevor, with no commercial ties. Impartiality is the non-negotiable condition for a valid COA. A certificate produced by the brand itself has no evidentiary value.
Full spectrum verified by batch
Each analysis measures the actual levels of CBD, CBG, CBN, CBC, and THC by chromatography (HPLC/GC-MS). The result shown on the label corresponds to the measured result, not an estimate or production average.
Zero tolerance for contaminants
Hemp is a bio-accumulator plant: it absorbs heavy metals and agricultural residues present in the soil. Each batch is systematically checked for pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals, mycotoxins, and residual solvents.
The golden rule: a certificate of analysis is only valid if the batch number on the document matches exactly the batch number printed on your product. A generic COA or one dated several years ago proves nothing about what you are consuming today. CBD Legality France 2026 →
Our five analysis panels — well beyond CBD
Full spectrumA serious analysis is not limited to CBD dosage. At Herbeevor, five categories of tests are performed on each batch before marketing. This level of control distinguishes a professional player from a simple reseller.
Complete cannabinoid profile
Chromatographic analysis (HPLC) to measure the exact concentration of each active molecule:
Terpene profile
Measurement of aromatic compounds to guarantee a true entourage effect and spectrum authenticity:
Pesticides & herbicides
Hemp bio-accumulates substances present in the soil. Each batch is subjected to multi-residue screening compliant with European standards:
Heavy metals
Systematic screening for heavy metals according to internationally recognized safety thresholds:
Residual solvents & mycotoxins
Cleanliness control of the extraction process and storage chain:
Our quality validation process — from plant to bottle
Step by stepThe conformity of a CBD product is built from the selection of raw materials. Here are the four steps that separate a certified product from a simply declared compliant product.
Only Cannabis sativa varieties registered in the European catalog of authorized seeds. Partner farms are selected for their cultivation practices (absence of pesticides, healthy soil) and are regularly audited. Biomass is tested even before extraction begins.
Supercritical CO2 extraction preserves the integrity of the cannabinoid and terpene spectrum without leaving chemical residues. For Broad Spectrum, a denaturation step removes THC without degrading other active molecules. No synthetic solvents are used in the final formulation.
Each batch of finished product is sent to a third-party laboratory accredited to ISO/IEC 17025. The analysis covers the five panels described above. If a batch does not pass all controls, it is destroyed — no exceptions. This rule has no commercial derogation.
The certificate of analysis is linked to the manufacturing batch number and made accessible via the product page on herbeevor.fr. You can verify the conformity of what you ordered by cross-referencing the number printed on your packaging with the COA published online.
Glossary — understanding COA terms
DefinitionsCertificates of analysis use standardized technical vocabulary. Here are the terms you will systematically encounter and their concrete meaning for a CBD product.
Certificate of Analysis — official document issued by an accredited laboratory, describing the exact chemical composition of a product from a physical sample sent to the laboratory. It is the cornerstone of transparency in CBD: without a COA linked to your batch number, you cannot know the actual composition of what you are consuming.
Not Detected — the molecule is absent or present in a quantity below the detection limit of the apparatus. For THC in a Broad Spectrum product, this is the expected result and the only one compatible with consumption without risk of a positive saliva test. See our Broad Spectrum products →
Limit of Detection — the minimum threshold below which an analytical device can no longer detect a molecule. A result "< LOD" confirms the absence of the molecule at any technically measurable concentration.
Limit of Quantification — the minimum quantity measurable with reliable precision. A result "< LOQ" indicates a tiny, unquantifiable trace. This is different from ND: the molecule could be present as a trace, but in an unmeasurable quantity with certainty.
High Performance Liquid Chromatography — a reference analytical technique for measuring cannabinoid concentrations. It separates and quantifies each molecule precisely. This is the method used to measure CBD and THC levels on our COAs.
Batch Number — a unique identifier assigned to each production series. It is the link between your physical product and the corresponding certificate of analysis. Without an exact match between the Batch ID on your packaging and that on the COA, the analysis does not concern your product.
Herbeevor guarantees — what you can demand
CertifiedThese commitments apply to our entire catalog, regardless of range or price. These are the minimum standards you are entitled to demand from any serious CBD seller.
What Herbeevor guarantees on every product, without exception.
Flowers, oils, capsules, infusions, cosmetics — the same analytical requirements apply.
Frequently Asked Questions — CBD Lab Analyses & COA
FAQWhat is a COA and why is it essential for CBD?
A COA (Certificate of Analysis) is an official document issued by an accredited analysis laboratory. It precisely describes the chemical composition of a product from a physical sample sent to the laboratory. For CBD, it confirms the actual concentration of cannabinoids (CBD, CBG, CBN, CBC, THC) and guarantees the absence of contaminants (pesticides, heavy metals, solvents, mycotoxins). Without a COA linked to your batch number, you have no proof of what you are actually consuming.
How to verify that a laboratory is reliable and independent?
A reliable laboratory is independent of the brand that markets the product — there can be no economic link between the two entities. The indicators to check on the COA:
- Full name and logo of the laboratory in the header
- ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation number — international standard for testing laboratories
- Verifiable contact details of the laboratory (website, address)
- Recent issue date, corresponding to your batch number
A COA produced by the brand itself, or by an in-house laboratory, has no evidentiary value. This is a clear conflict of interest.
What do ND, LOQ, and LOD mean on a CBD analysis certificate?
- ND (Not Detected) — the molecule is absent or in a quantity below the detection limit. For THC in a Broad Spectrum product, this is the only result compatible with consumption without risk of a positive saliva test.
- LOD (Limit of Detection) — the minimum quantity an apparatus can detect. Below this, the presence of the molecule cannot be confirmed or disproven.
- LOQ (Limit of Quantification) — the minimum quantity measurable with reliable precision. A result "< LOQ" indicates a tiny, unquantifiable trace. This is not identical to ND.
What is the validity period of a CBD analysis certificate?
Technically, a COA does not have a formal expiration date. In practice, it is only valid for the batch to which it is linked. If a brand displays a COA dating back two years to sell you a product from a more recent batch, this analysis proves nothing about your product. Always demand a COA whose batch number exactly matches the number printed on your packaging.
Is a foreign COA valid for a CBD product sold in France?
Yes, on an analytical level, if the laboratory is accredited according to international ISO standards. But legal compliance is assessed against French law. A Swiss COA certifying 0.8% THC (legal in Switzerland) does not make the product legal in France, where the threshold is strictly 0.3%. This point is often ignored by sellers who import products from other European countries without reformulation. Learn more about CBD legality in France 2026 →
Can a driver consume CBD and remain safe regarding tests?
A Full Spectrum CBD product legal in France (THC < 0.3%) can nevertheless trigger a positive saliva test during a roadside check. Drivers and anyone subject to controls (sports anti-doping, occupational health) must imperatively choose Broad Spectrum (THC: ND) or Isolate formulas. The label alone is not enough: check that the COA clearly displays "ND" for THC. See our Broad Spectrum capsules →
What is the difference between Full Spectrum, Broad Spectrum, and Isolate?
- Full Spectrum — contains all cannabinoids naturally present in the plant, including THC at a legal level (< 0.3%). Offers a complete entourage effect. Not recommended for drivers.
- Broad Spectrum — full spectrum from which THC has been eliminated. The COA displays "ND" for THC. Suitable for drivers and those subject to controls.
- Isolate — pure CBD at 99%+. No other cannabinoids or terpenes. The analytical profile is minimal, without an entourage effect.

How to read a CBD Certificate of Analysis (COA)
Practical guideA true certificate of analysis is a structured document, with specific areas to check. Here are the four essential control points — in less than two minutes, you will know if a COA is reliable or not.
1 Header and laboratory
2 Product identification and batch number
3 Cannabinoid profile and THC level
4 Analytical thresholds — LOQ, LOD, and ND
Every Herbeevor product includes a direct link to the COA corresponding to its batch number. You don't have to ask — transparency is the default, not an exception. View products with COA →
